The Church of Ireland Youth Department (CIYD) is the Church’s youth policy–making body with full reporting rights/responsibilities to the General Synod.
The Department is made up of elected representatives of the Diocesan Youth Councils and Diocesan Synods with scope for co–option to respond to areas of the country which may fall outside the main catchment.
CIYD is responsible for the support and development of youth work in the Church. Training, resource materials, and support and advice for youth leaders, young people and clergy are available. CIYD recognises the wealth of resources throughout the Church from parish to diocese and it seeks to facilitate growth in youth ministry.
