The place of children and their families in the life of the Christian Church has been central since Jesus himself brought a child into the midst of the Apostles and told them, in these words recorded in Mark chapter 9:
Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me.
The Board for Ministry with Children and Families passionately
believes that children and those who care for them should be at the
heart of the life of every parish community in the Church of Ireland. We
hope to provide encouragement and a resource for those who share that vision and work.
The Board exists to equip, resource and advocate for the increased welcome, enhanced inclusion and full participation of children and their families in the whole life of the Church.
Our aim is to support and enable each parish across the island of Ireland to engage with families and children in their community in a relevant and impactful way, to develop lasting relationships and to encourage faith formation within the home setting as well as within the Church. We see our relationship with families as being one of partnership – where the Church is a source of inspiration, care and acceptance for all ages of the family unit.
A wide range of regularly updated resources for ministry with children and families is available through the Board’s website – www.cfm.ireland.anglican.org – and on Facebook and Instagram.
