The Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, Christ Church, Waterford

www.christchurchwaterford.com

The Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, Christ Church was built on a site of Christian worship which dates back to 1050 and probably before. The present-day Cathedral, designed by John Roberts (1714-1796), has been described as the finest 18th century ecclesiastical building in Ireland. The medieval Cathedral, which was demolished to make way for the present building, was where in 1170 the marriage of the Norman knight Strongbow and the Irish princess Aoife took place. The Cathedral sits in the middle of the Viking Triangle with a number of other sites to visit close-by.

Dean

The Very Reverend Bruce Hayes

The Cathedral Church of St Carthage, Lismore

Lismore Cathedral dedicated to Cartagh, also spelled Carthage, was founded in 635 by Mochuda who took the name of his teacher Cartagh so that it might not be forgotten, so the one man has two names!
