ARCHBISHOP NEILL'S MESSAGE FOR LITURGICAL WELCOME FOR ARCHBISHOP DIARMUID MARTIN

The Archbishop of Dublin, Dr John Neill, who is in Geneva attending meetings of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches, has sent the following message to be read at the Liturgical Welcome for Archbishop Diarmuid Martin in the Pro-Cathedral on Saturday 30 August 2003:

"Both personally and on behalf of the Church of Ireland in this diocese, I extend warm and prayerful greetings to Diarmuid, Coadjutor-Archbishop of Dublin, on the occasion of his liturgical welcome.

I cannot be present as I shall be overseas, but I assure both him and the Cardinal Archbishop that they are in my thoughts and prayers on this happy day for the whole Christian Church in our city and diocese.

May the Holy Spirit inspire us to work ever more closely for God's Kingdom."

Dr Neill will be represented by Archdeacon Gordon Linney at the ceremony.
