Santa coming down the chimney is one thing but Debbie Hull, 18, and her father Rev Henry Hull, rector of Lecale Group, are going to top that by abseiling down the spire of Down Cathedral in Downpatrick on Saturday, 27 December 2003 at 11.00 a.m.

The intrepid pair are attempting this spectacular feat to raise funds for Debbie's gap year Youth with a Mission project in South Africa in January and to improve facilities for the disabled in Down Cathedral.

Said Henry Hull: "This is my first attempt at abseiling and you could say I've been hoisted or cajoled into it by Debbie. But hopefully we'll enjoy the experience and give Santa a few tips for next year!"
