BALLINA BIBLE WEEK

The Word of God Reaches Out...

Following the success of last year's Bible Week, the four main church leaders, Roman Catholic, Church of Ireland, Methodist and Presbyterian are planning a series of open and ecumenical meetings in Ballina Parochial Centre, by St. Muredach's Cathedral, Ballina. All will be most welcome.

Last year, the theme of the week was 'The Word of God Comes...' This year the theme will be 'The Word of God Reaches out....', and the focus of the bible readings and reflection will be on Mission.

Appropriate to this theme, the meetings will take place in the week between World Mission Sunday (19th October) and Bible Sunday (26th October). The details are as follows:

  • Monday 20th October with Bishop Richard Henderson (Church of Ireland) 8.00 pm Ballina Parochial Centre (by Cathedral). Bishop Henderson will focus on parables that show God's love and reaching out for us in St. Luke chapter 15.

  • Tuesday 21st October with Rev'd. Robin Waugh (Methodist) 8.00 pm Ballina Parochial Centre (by Cathedral). Rev'd. Waugh will speak of the forgiveness of God in St. Matthew chapter 18.

  • Wednesday 22nd October with Rev'd. John Mann (Presbyterian) 8.00 pm Ballina Parochial Centre (by Cathedral). Revd Mann will speak of Philip the Deacon in the Acts of the Apostles chapter 8

  • Thursday 23rd October with Bishop John Fleming (Roman Catholic) 8.00 pm Ballina Parochial Centre (by Cathedral). Bishop Fleming will speak of the Word made Flesh in St. John chapter 1.

This series provides an important witness as Christians from different traditions unite and share the depths and joys of our common text, the Holy Bible.
