CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL DUBLIN CELEBRATES

Trinity Sunday, 15 June, is a date of major importance in the calendar of Dublin's Christ Church Cathedral. Though popularly known as Christ Church, the official dedication of the cathedral is to the Holy Trinity. This year the day will be marked by a number of special events.

The Cathedral's Patronal Service will take place at 11.00 am when the address will be given by the Right Revd George Connor, Bishop of the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.

After the service the Annual Lunch of the Friends of the Cathedral will take place in the crypt. This will be followed by the Friends' Annual General Meeting at 2.15 p.m., after which Ms Lisa Parker will give a talk on Sir Robert Prescott Stewart, one of Dublin's colourful Victorian musicians, who was organist of Christ Church from 1844-1894.

Evensong will be at the later time of 4.00pm. During Evensong 320 chairs for the nave given by the Friends will be dedicated by Archbishop Neill. He will also bless the Lady Chapel icons, created by the Romanian artist, Mihai Cocu. The icons have been presented to the Cathedral by choir member Dan Apalaghie and his family.
