It is with great sadness that The Very Revd John Paterson has tendered his resignation from the office of dean of Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin to His Grace the Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Revd Dr John Neill. The resignation will take effect as and from 6 January 2004, the Feast of the Epiphany.

Dean Paterson has been hospitalised five times since Easter this year and, on medical grounds, has been advised to give up the stress of running a cathedral that has so significantly grown in strength over the past fifteen years.
