NEW USPG WORLD MISSION ADVISER FOR CHURCH OF IRELAND
![]() USPG announces the appointment of Linda Chambers as the new World Mission Adviser in the Church of Ireland. Linda has been working in the USPG Dublin office for the past two and half years and lives in Portmarnock. The appointment is part of a recent restructuring exercise of the USPG Mission Resources Team, and the implementation of new strategies aimed at raising the profile of the 300 years old Society's work around the world, particularly among the Churches in Britain and Ireland. USPG works in partnership with Anglican and United Churches in over 50 countries worldwide, exchanging people, resources and offering opportunities for training and development. It also works alongside many churches in Britain and Ireland to promote mission. USPG is a major producer of a vast range of resources used for example for worship and education. It also provides valuable information packs, regular newsletters and a quarterly magazine about the worldwide church. USPG is also able to offer human resources in the form of speakers, trainers and facilitators for world church events, seminars, workshops and training programmes, using people from both overseas as well as returned missionaries and many experienced staff. USPG, in conjunction with the Methodist Church, runs a short-term volunteer programme known as the Experience Exchange Programme (EEP), which enables volunteers from 18 years, to share in mission in another part of the world, learn from a new culture and experience the life of the church there for 6-12 months. No special professional skills are necessary. Currently a volunteer from Dublin is going to Chile for one year to serve alongside the church in Iqueque, in a children's life-skills project. All the work of USPG is possible because of the continued support it receives from the Churches in Britain and Ireland. This is done through prayer support, donations, legacies and also by giving to earmarked USPG projects overseas. Linda hopes to visit as many churches and supporters as possible in the next few weeks, to introduce herself, and to explore how best USPG can serve you and together enable God's mission. If you would like further information about the work of USPG or to obtain resources, or if you are interested in serving overseas either short term or long term, please contact Linda on +353 (0)1 8323387 or +353 (0)86 8586337 or email:USPG |
