The six–foot long model of St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral, lovingly created by members of the Armagh Men’s Shed group, will be featured this Saturday morning (4th January) on BBC Radio Ulster’s Your Place and Mine.  The programme will be broadcast from 8.05am and available afterwards on the BBC website at this link.

The model, which also includes the Crypt, was created over the last year and designed using photographs and drawings of the building following numerous site visits. It is 6 feet and 3 inches in length and 4 feet and 6 inches wide, and has working internal lights, and is on display in the Cathedral on the Hill of Armagh – a place of Christian worship since the 5th century when the site was given to St Patrick for building his ‘Great Stone Church’.

Armagh Men’s Shed has also created models of other famous churches in Armagh, including St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral; the group is a community–based organisation with a focus on providing a safe, friendly and inclusive social environment for men of all ages.
