General Synod Communications Competition 2025

Open to Friday, 11th April 2025

General Synod Communications Competition 2025

The Central Communications Board’s annual Communications Competition is now open and invites entries for PRINT MEDIA from Church of Ireland parishes, dioceses and affiliated organisations, in the following categories:

• Diocesan Magazine
• Parish Magazine or Newsletter
• Church of Ireland affiliated organisation Magazine or Newsletter

Quality of presentation, strength of content and outreach potential are once again to be the standards of excellence against which entries will be judged.  Awards for the competition will be kindly sponsored by Ecclesiastical Insurance.

The closing date is Friday, 11th April 2025.  Winners will be announced with a presentation and awards event at this year’s General Synod, which is taking place in person in Naas on Friday, 8th May, and Saturday, 9th May.  The Central Communications Board alternates the scope of its competitions each year between print, photography and online media, and this year’s competition will focus on print media.

Bishop Pat Storey, who chairs the Central Communications Board, remarked: “We are very grateful for all the creativity and hard work that goes into producing magazines and newsletters around our Church throughout the year.  Printed media continues to have an important role in communicating the Christian message and a whole range of news and events from church life for the record and in a tangible form for readers.  The competition will also be a good opportunity to gather together examples of good design and publishing ideas which we can all learn from and share more widely.”

Please obtain an entry form for the competition by emailing [email protected] or by calling 028/048 9082 8880.

One recent copy must be sent in hard copy with a completed entry form to the Church of Ireland Press Office at either of these addresses:

  • Church of Ireland Press Office, Floor 2, 18–22 Hill Street, Belfast, BT1 2LA
  • Church of Ireland House, Church Avenue, Rathmines, Dublin 6, D06 CF67

Remember: the closing date for entries is Friday, 11th April 2025.
