Dublin Ministerial Initiatives

The Diocese of Dublin & Glendalough has announced two new initiatives to foster and develop ministry.

For those who you interested in finding out about ministry in all its forms, the United Dioceses of Dublin & Glendalough’s Vocation Day will take place on Saturday 27 June  in Crinken Church in Bray from 10am to 1pm. Lunch will be provided. Organised by Dublin and Glendalough’s Directors of Ordinands, Canon Suzanne Harris and Canon Tom O’Brien, the day is designed to support those who feel a wish to serve God but are not sure where to start.

For more information and to book a place please email Canon O’Brien at [email protected] or Canon Harris at [email protected]. All are welcome.

The Archbishop of Dublin has appointed the Revd Natasha Quinn–Thomas, Rector of Delgany, as Warden of Parish Readers. She will work alongside the Joint Wardens of Readers, Canon Prof Anne Lodge and the Revd Conor O’Reilly, to support and develop the network of Parish Readers throughout the United Dioceses.

Making the announcement, Archbishop Michael Jackson noted that “The work of Parish Readers and of Diocesan Readers is a distinct and different commitment and opportunity to serve. As part of our development of support for Readers generally I have decided to create a new role specifically to do with Parish Readers and Natasha has kindly agreed to undertake this. Natasha will work with the two Diocesan Wardens of Readers to ensure the complementary character of both types of Readership throughout our dioceses. Much of her work in the first instance will be one of being alongside Parish Readers whose service we all value hugely’.

Mothers’ Union All–Ireland President. Mrs Kay Clarke, has announced the appointment of the Revd Alistair Doyle as its new All–Ireland Chaplain for the 2026–2028 triennial, in succession to the Ven. Stephen McBride.

Mr Doyle currently serves as Rector of the Arklow, Inch, & Kilbride group of papishes in the Diocese of Glendalough. Prior to this, he served as Curate Assistant in the Galway group of parishes, where he demonstrated a keen interest in supporting and promoting the values and outreach of Mothers’ Union. In his new role as All–Ireland Chaplain, Alistair will provide spiritual guidance and pastoral support to the President and members across the island, helping to nurture faith, strengthen community, and further the organisation’s mission of demonstrating the Christian faith in action through the transformation of communities worldwide.

On Tuesday there will be a lunchtime concert at 1.15pm in St Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick, with John Doyle (tenor), Colette Delahunt (soprano) and pianist, Irina Denova. Admission is free.

Next Thursday the series of lunchtime lectures, ‘Handel & Dublin’, conceived for the Friends of Christ Church by Adrain Le Harieval, will conclude in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, at 1.10pm, when musicologist, Michael Lee, will speak on ‘Handel & Music in 18th Century Dublin’. Admission is free and all are welcome.
