Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann comes to Belfast Cathedral

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann comes to Belfast Cathedral

St Anne’s Cathedral is working to make the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Belfast a resounding success.

The spacious car park to the sides and rear of the cathedral are given over to a cosmopolitan mix of food and refreshment wagons and entertainment hubs. Every square metre of space is taken up by more than seventy stalls and outlets.

Traditional music and dance have transformed the normally quiet car park into a vibrant, must–visit venue in Donegall Street. Inside, a pop–up Cathedral Coffee shop is attracting visitors who are exploring the impressive building.

At the half–way point in the 8–day Fleadh, Dean Stephen Forde recounts the history of traditional music and the role played by a famous organist during the coming together of harpists in the nearby Assembly Rooms in 1792. www.churchofireland.org
