SECTARIAN KILLINGS "MOST BLASPHEMOUS AND EVIL OF ACTIONS." - ARCHBISHOP EAMES
“On a day when so many will seek ways of expressing their rejection of sectarian terrorism in Northern Ireland our thoughts and prayers must be for the relatives and loved-ones of those who have lost their lives so cruelly over the years.
“Sectarian killings are the most blasphemous and evil of actions where a man or woman is condemned to death simply because of their religious identity.
“For too many tragic years sectarian attitudes throughout this community have encouraged such evil acts. The frustration of the vast majority of Protestants and Roman Catholics who feel unable to influence those who carry out such deeds cries out for an end to all killing.
“All of us both Protestant and Roman Catholic, unionist and loyalist, nationalist or republican, have been made in the image of the one God. Life is God’s most precious gift.
“On this day from countless hearts and minds across Northern Ireland there is but one call: ‘in God’s name stop this evil madness and let us find peace together.’”
