DIOCESE BIDS FAREWELL TO BISHOP

Members of Down and Dromore Diocesan Synod met recently to pay tribute and say farewell to their Bishop who will retire at the end of January. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Gordon McMullan has been Bishop of Down and Dromore since 1986.

Following a service of Holy Communion in Thanksgiving for the Ministry of Bishop Gordon McMullan held in St. Jude's Church, Ballynafeigh, Belfast there followed presentations on behalf of the Diocesan Administration of Church of Ireland House. Presentations were also made to Mrs Kathleen McMullan.

Bishop McMullan has been deeply involved in community bridge-building showing active concern for the unemployed and those who live in areas of social and political disadvantage. He will now be involved in a Fellowship at the Divinity School of Harvard University in the United States and on returning to Ireland hopes to continue his ministerial involvement in community bridge-building.
