PARISH CALLS FOR DISMISSAL OF DEAN

The select vestries of Trim and Athboy, at separate meetings this week passed the following resolutions:

  1. That Andrew Furlong be informed that the Select Vestries of Trim and Athboy consider his position to be completely untenable, and his publicly stated views make it unacceptable that he continue to serve as Rector of the Union (of parishes).   We therefore call on him to resign his position and to desist forthwith from issuing statements as Rector of Trim & Athboy and Dean of Clonmacnoise.

  2. We are shocked and upset by the statements being made by Andrew Furlong which render him unacceptable as Rector and Dean.   We therefore request Bishop Clarke to have the Dean's position terminated as soon as possible.

The select Vestry of Trim parish, at a meeting held on Tuesday, January 15th., expressed their appreciation and commendation of the actions of Bishop Clarke in dealing with Andrew Furlong.
