CITY CENTRE CHURCH REVITALISED

In 1995 St. Barnabas church in Duncairn Gardens was closed for worship and joined to St. Paul's in York Street in the Tiger Bay area of Belfast, which has been an important focal point for the local community for almost 150 years.

When St. Paul's was built in 1851 it was largely surrounded by green fields whereas today it is situated in a residential and industrial inner city area.

It has known some hard and bitter times during "The Troubles" but today, with its female rector is growing again.

St. Paul's has undergone major repair and refurbishment including a modern lounge for meetings. It will be re-dedicated and consecrated by the Bishop of Connor, the Rt Revd James Moore on Sunday 19th October at 11.00am.
