Second Relationships and the Family
A Conference organised by
the Church of Ireland Marriage Council

The Church of Ireland General Synod in 1996 passed a bill allowing for the remarriage of divorced persons in church. This milestone was achieved after many years of discussion and debate.

The Church of Ireland Marriage Council is now intending to hold a conference to discuss the implications that second relationships have for the couple, the stepfamily and for the children. The speakers have all extensive experience in this field and will lead the conference in opening the debate on how as a society we recognise the issues that reorganised families have to face.

The Conference will be held on Saturday February 16th, 2002, in All Hallows College, Drumcondra, Dublin 9.

The keynote speakers will be Julia Green from Relate (N.I.) who will speak on Issues for the Couple, Donna Smith, a founding member of the Step-Parenting Association, who will speak on Issues of Step-Parenting, and Claire Missen of Teen-Between who will speak on The Voice of the Child.

The Conference begins at 10.00am and will end at 4.15pm.
