Community shocked by teenager's death
Dromore has been stunned by the tragedy of Naomi Wilson's death. She was a highly valued and beloved member of the school community, and had a range of interests which thrilled her, yet her sudden death has brought to an end a life full of potential. The community there is a close knit one, and there is a palpable sense of shock and dismay that a fifteen year old girl is dead.
The Cathedral has been the location for many services which Dromore High School conducts over the years. It provides a convenient space for a whole school celebration at both Harvest and Christmas each year and occasionally a community sacred concert. It is our privilege to offer the church building to Naomi's family and friends to help them remember her life and seek God's comfort.
Naomi was a member of the Girls Brigade Company at Lambeg and her rector there, Rev Ken McReynolds, will be preaching at the funeral service in the cathedral.
Dean Stephen Lowry commented "There is a profound sense of sorrow here that a young girl at the threshold of a fruitful life should be found dead. As a church community we express our sympathy and prayerful good wises to Naomi's family at this time."
