CHURCHES' CONCERN OVER MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT

The Porvoo Communion Church Leaders meeting this week in Tallinn, Estonia have expressed their deep concern at the escalating violence in the Middle East.

In a statement they call on religious and political leaders urgently to find ways to bring hostilities to an end and to begin negotiations for a peaceful resolution of the deep suffering being experienced on both sides of the conflict.

The statement concludes: “We wish to assure Bishop Riah, the Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem and Bishop Munib A. Younan of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jordan, living in Jerusalem, of our continuing prayers for them and their people and for all Christians in the Holy Land.”
