CHURCH OF IRELAND LAUNCHES WEBSITE FOR GENERAL SYNOD 2001

The Church of Ireland General Synod 2001 website, which can be found at http://synod.ireland.anglican.org, has been launched today.

The website will be updated during the General Synod which takes place from 15 - 17 May in the O'Reilly Hall in the campus of University College Dublin.

The website follows the format of last year's highly successful General Synod 2000 website. During the three days of Synod 2000 the site received over 2200 visitors who followed proceedings both during and after the event. The website is still available at http://synod.ireland.anglican.org/2000 and is an excellent resource for those looking for information on the debates and reports presented at Synod 2000.

The General Synod 2001 website includes a full set of reports that are to be debated at this year's General Synod (in HTML, RTF and PDF formats), giving members of the Church throughout Ireland and beyond and those with an interest in its work the opportunity to follow proceedings. Also included are copies of the Bills, Motions and Resolutions which are to be presented to Synod.

Comprehensive information can also be found for Synod members, including accommodation, travel and leisure activities.

The Web-site will be updated daily with reports on proceedings, press releases and speeches accompanied by photographs and audio feeds. There is also an on-line media centre providing contact details and information for journalists along with links to major media web-sites.
