Visit of World Wide President of the Mothers' Union to Ireland

The World Wide President of the Mothers' Union, Trish Heywood, will visit Ireland from 26th May to 2nd June. Her itinerary includes a variety of events in Dublin, Galway, Skreen, Derrylin, Derry, Dungannon and Belfast. At each venue she will meet members from local and neighbouring dioceses. Thelma Mehaffey, the All-Ireland President, will accompany her.

Trish Heywood took office as World Wide President (as successor to Lady Eames) on 1 January 2001 and was commissioned by the Archbishop of Canterbury at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster on 15 March 2001. Prior to this she had been the Scottish Provincial President for 6 years. She lives in Dunfermline, Scotland.

The Mothers' Union is currently celebrating its 125th anniversary and Trish is keen to promote Parenting, Literacy and Development projects that will benefit from any fund raising "125 Events". Mothers' Union in Ireland is eleven years younger but nevertheless is joining the celebrations that are taking place this year.

The current World Wide President is coming to Ireland almost 100 years after the organisation's founder, Mary Sumner, visited the country.
