St. Patrick's Day events cancelled at Down Cathedral

The Bishop of Down and Dromore has announced that all the celebrations in Saul and Down Cathedral for St Patrick's Day this year have been cancelled because of the Foot and Mouth epidemic.

The decision has been made in the light of the guidelines issued by the Northern Ireland Assembly.

The Bishop suggests people to take a few minutes on St Patrick's Day to give thanks for the Gospel which Patrick brought to Ireland. The celebrations this year were to have reflected the developing relationships between the Methodists and the Church of Ireland, and the Bishop has encouraged people to pray for this, as well as for the farming community at this difficult time.
