USPG TO MEET IN MAYNOOTH

The United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (USPG) will hold an international conference in Maynooth from 3rd - 8th June 2001.

The conference, entitled "Venture Fourth" to mark the beginning of its fourth century of activity, is intended as an opportunity for USPG to listen to the voice of the world wide church as it seeks to discern the ways in which it should be working in the 21st century.

"As USPG enters its fourth century of mission, delegates from around the world will be invited to come together to dream dreams. This 'Venture Fourth' event will include participants from the wide range of the life of the church: urban and rural, clerical and lay, black and white, male and female. In addition to topical issues such as the environment, inter-faith issues, base communities, urban poor situations, and global scenarios, it will be an opportunity to bring a prophetic voice to future relations. We hope the charisma of the participants will transcend denominations allowing participation beyond the Anglican Communion. We ask for your prayers in making this faith venture a reality and look forward to sharing those dreams at a later date." (http://www.uspg.org.uk/whats.html)

USPG is one of the leading Anglican missionary societies. It was founded in 1965 with the amalgamation of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel and the (Anglican) Universities Mission to Central Africa but traces its roots to the establishment of SPG in 1791.
