Clogher Diocese to listen to stories concerning immigration
The Diocese of Clogher in association with the Hard Gospel Project, are jointly organising a Diocesan Consultation on Immigration at 7:30 p.m. on Monday 14th May in Monaghan Parish Hall.
The evening will be chaired by Bishop Jackson and will feature a guest speaker, Mr Bill Abom, author of ‘Harvesting Justice’, a recent publication from the Migrant Right’s Centre of Ireland on the lives of mushroom farm workers in border counties. The consultation is designed to offer a forum for all those with experiences or issues regarding immigration to share their stories.
All are welcome and representatives from each parish in the Diocese are encouraged to attend. Those interested in the event may include;
• Parishioners with a heart for pastoral issues.
• Those that have lived overseas, especially in countries of key migration (e.g. Poland, Nigeria, etc…)
• Those that work with migrants.
• Migrants themselves.
The Consultation evening is part of the Hard Gospel’s immigration strategy, whereby similar events take place in each Diocese all over the island. The strategy culminates in a National Conference on Immigration in the Autumn of 2007.
