Harvestide Songs of Praise to help Dublin's homeless

HARVESTIDE SONGS OF PRAISE TO HELP DUBLIN'S HOMELESS

Monday 13th September 2004

Archdeacon Gordon Linney will lead a Harvestide Songs of Praise in aid of Dublin's homeless at St Ann's Church, Dawson Street, on Sunday 19 September 2004 at 7.00 pm.

Eric de Courcy will be in charge of the music which will be provided by leading choirs, including The Seafield Singers, The Dublin Welsh Male Voice Choir, The Lindsay Singers and St Stephen's Green Loreto College choir. Also taking part will be organist Alison Young and the Stedfast Brass Band.

The collection will be for the YMCA Build A Future for the Homeless Project. After the service there will be light refreshments in the Molesworth Hall.

Organiser, Cyril Wright, comments, "At St Ann's we are very conscious of the numbers of people who are homeless in our city. As we go to church we see them in halls and doorways. They are a sad reflection of our reduced care for 'our neighbours' at this time of plenty. The YMCA in Aungier Street through its 'Build a Future for the Homeless' project is dealing with this problem in a practical way by providing housing and training for employment for up to 61 (mainly young people) at a time. This will be a wonderful opportunity to sing along praising and thanking God for another bountiful harvest and to help a very worthwhile project."

Everyone is welcome to attend. Come by LUAS (250 metres from terminal) or DART ( Westland Row) or BUS (passing the door) or CAR (parking available at Dawson car park until 9.30 pm)
