Mothers' Union makes time for relationship
The Mothers’ Union is breaking new ground in June, by taking news of its work to a wider audience in a series of seven “Roadshows” around the UK and Ireland.
Following on from its rebranding in 2007, the membership charity is replacing its traditional annual general meeting of members with a series of events in different locations around Britain and Ireland to enable up to 8,000 supporters to come and find out about the charitable work of the charity at the global, national and local level.
Focusing on the theme Time for Relationship, the Roadshows will show how Mothers’ Union programmes across the world are supporting family life, educating communities and breaking down barriers of poverty and stigma. Each Roadshow will include a focus on the work being done in local communities too.
During the Armagh Roadshow, Rosita Bridle, a Mothers' Union Parenting Facilitator from Clogher Dioceses will share her experience of how she initiated, along with members of her local Branch, a Cross Community Parent and Toddler Group. They work alongside statutory bodies that offer parent advice, baby massage classes and music courses for children.
“Creating and issuing a new logo is pointless unless our membership are informed about, and feel connected to the charitable work of the charity”, said Chief Executive, Reg Bailey, “Christian Care for Families is not just a strapline, but a vital outreach work of our members. We want to encourage more people to get involved with issues affecting families, and to Reach Out with effective support via Mothers’ Union. Building a relationship of encouragement of members and awareness of our work will help us support many more families in the future.”
The Roadshows begin in Exeter on 17th June, and will be followed by similar events in Cardiff (19th), Leicester (21st), Leeds (23rd), Stirling (25th), Armagh (27th) and Worthing 28th.
