Whole-Time Hospital Chaplain for Cork, Cloyne and Ross
The position of whole-time Hospital Chaplain is a new one in Cork, Cloyne and Ross. It is made possible by the generosity of Saint Luke’s Home (Cork) Incorporated, which has committed to co-funding the position with the diocese.

The Revd Daniel Nuzum with The Right Revd Paul Colton outside St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, Cork
On 1st February, the Revd Daniel Nuzum, formally Incumbent of Templebreedy Group of Parishes, was licensed and commissioned to the post.
Pastoral care for those who are ill in hospital, as well as those who work in healthcare institutions is a targeted priority in Cork, Cloyne and Ross. This appointment builds on the commitment to hospitals in the diocese and builds on the 2002 appointment of a half-time Chaplain. Further to this, last year a number of lay pastoral workers were commissioned, some of whom are working in hospital ministry.
The new Chaplain is based at Cork University Hospital and Cork University Maternity Hospital and will also have responsibility for chaplaincy provision at the Bon Secours Hospital and the Mercy University Hospital. This ministry will dove-tail with the on-going ministry of the half-time Chaplain and the part-time hospital ministry of the clergy in the city parishes, who have a continuing role in hospital ministry also. The new Chaplain will work with local clergy to ensure enhanced patient care.

As part of his duties, the Revd Daniel Nuzum will work with the Revd Bruce Pierce, Director of Education at Saint Luke’s Home, to identify training and continuing ministerial education (CME) needs, for those who work in hospitals.
