Statement by the Bishop of Derry & Raphoe Condemning Killings of Two Young Soldiers and a PSNI Officer
Statement from Bishop Ken Good Condemning Killings of Two Young Soldiers and a PSNI Officer
Every part of the community in Northern Ireland unites in abhorring the shameful acts of violence that have been committed in Antrim and Craigavon. These acts bring shame to those who committed them. Our sympathy and prayers go to the families of the two young soldiers and PSNI officer who have suffered such a terrible loss.
This community will not be deflected from the pathway to a peaceful future Such tragic and heartbreaking events as have taken place in the last few days cause us to redouble our commitment to a peaceful future. Our resolute condemnation of these murders and the use of violence for political purposes is accompanied by our unwavering efforts to live peaceably.
As ordinary members of this community we want to find ways to express both our sorrow at what has happened but also our unwavering commitment to peace. I commend initiatives such as the silent protest being organized by Trades Unionists, to be held in the Guildhall Square.
