The rector, the Rev Alan McCann, joined teachers from Fields of Life Secondary Schools in East Africa at their Discipleship 09 Training Conference.  Alan was on a two week teaching/training programme for Fields of Life.

The purpose was to train secondary school teachers in small group bible studies, discipleship training and bible teaching.  Whilst there Alan preached at Kampala Full Gospel Church, at their three morning services, 7am, 9am and 11am. Each service had around 600 in the congregation.  On the second Sunday he preached at Dara High School, Lira, at 6am and 8am services.

The teachers were delighted to receive the bibles for their schools donated by Holy Trinity Woodburn to Fields of Life for secondary schools in East Africa.  Fund raising by the parish Sunday School, Potter’s House, and Holy Trinity parishioners realised £3,200 and enabled Fields of Life to purchase 1000 bibles to be distributed amongst nine schools in Uganda and Burundi.

During the trip Alan also handed over the keys of an Isuzu pickup to Mr Kennedy Nkolenta, East Africa Director of Fields of Life.  Alan and Mr David Mulligan had raised £6,000 to purchase the pickup but Laganside Construction donated the pickup to Fields of Life, and the money raised paid for the shipping of the container to East Africa.
