IRISH COUNCIL OF CHURCHES (ICC) ANNUAL MEETING

2 APRIL 2009

Irish churches exploring alternative responses to the economic crisis

While the G20 leaders are holding a summit meeting in London to address the global economic crisis, the Irish churches will be meeting together at the Gracehill settlement near Ballymena to discuss the theme: 'Living for Tomorrow's World – Green? Global? Greedy?'

Dr Lorna Gold (Advocacy Manager at Trócaire) will give the keynote address to the 86th Annual meeting of the Irish Council of Churches. This will be held in the Moravian Church at the Gracehill Settlement on Thursday, April 2nd when the Council members of the 14 member churches and invited guests will attend.

Revd Dr Mark Gray (Minister of Cooke Centenary Presbyterian Church, Belfast) will also address the theme.

The day will be chaired by Revd Tony Davidson, who has presided over the Council’s activities and developments over this past year.

A detailed report about ICC's work during the past 12 months and plans for the coming year will be presented to the Council. Amongst the 100 people attending will be Council members appointed by the member churches from all over the island, invited guests from local and other churches, and ecumenical partner organisations.
