New CIP Publication
A new booklet from Church of Ireland Publishing has recently appeared. Working Out the Covenant. A Shared Spiritual Heritage is the third booklet which CIP has produced for the Covenant Council of the Church of Ireland and the Methodist Church in Ireland, and like the previous two, has been designed by the Church of Ireland Publications Officer, Dr Susan Hood. It was distributed earlier this month at the General Synod and will be available at the Methodist Conference next month.

Working Out the Covenant, which has been edited and partly written by Gillian Kingston, includes valuable sections, by the Revd Dudley Levistone Cooney, on the prayers and hymns of  John and Charles Wesley, a copy of the Covenant Service, the text of  the Covenant, and, as an appendix, the order of services which was used at Chrome Hill, Co. Antrim, in September 2002, when the Covenant was signed by the then leaders of the two churches, Archbishop Robin Eames and the Revd Winston Graham.

The Covenant Council encourages and helps to facilitate joint schemes of work between the churches; raises awareness of the Covenant through an ongoing process of education and information sharing; and is engaged in significant theological dialogue on the questions of espicope and episcopacy. Details of its ongoing work, and all relevant documents can be accessed through the Council’s website – www.covenantcouncil.com/

Copies of Working Out the Covenant are available from the Resource Centre Bookshop,
Holy Trinity Church, Church Avenue, Rathmines, Dublin 6 and from the Good Bookshop, 61-67 Donegall Street, Belfast at €6/£5.
