Annie, who was 100 on January 25, received a birthday card carrying congratulations from Her Majesty the Queen, and as she was born in Co Donegal, she also received a letter of congratulations from the President of Ireland.

As a lifelong member of the Mothers’ Union, Annie received congratulations not only from all the St Cedma's members, but also from Diocesan, All Ireland and World MU presidents. For many years an enthusiastic parish bowler, this part of parish life was not missed out either.

Annie also had a special visit from the Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy, accompanied by St Cedma’s curate, the Rev Martin Hilliard and over a cup of tea she shared some of the key moments in her life with the Bishop.

As her rector, the Ven Stephen Forde, was in Sudan on the day of Annie’s birthday, he had delivered congratulations from the Parish before his departure. While the archdeacon’s attempts to telephone Annie from Sudan were defeated as the technology did not connect, this did not stop Annie from enjoying a lively family party.
