New Archdeacon of Dublin
The new Archdeacon of Dublin, the Ven. David Pierpoint, assumes office on Monday, All Saints Day. His appointment has been known for some time, having been announced by the Archbishop of Dublin in May, since when the archdeacon-designate has been attending the regular senior staff meetings in the diocese to familiarize himself with his new responsibilities.
Archdeacon Pierpoint was ordained in 1986, initially to serve in the auxiliary ministry and he assisted in the parishes of Ballybrack and then Narraghmore while continuing to work in the bank. Following a period of study in Westcott House, Cambridge, he transferred to the stipendiary ministry in 1992 and was appointed as curate in the St Patrick?s Cathedral group of parishes renewing an association with the cathedral in which he had been a choirboy. Since 1995 he has been Vicar of the Christ Church Cathedral group of parishes which includes St Werburgh?s, St Michan?s and All Saints, Grangegorman, and a canon of Christ Church. He will be installed in Christ Church Cathedral on 14 November.
