The Revd Craig McCauley has been appointed Archdeacon of Kilmore Diocese

At last night’s meeting of the Kilmore Diocesan Council (17th June 2010), Bishop Ken Clarke announced that the Revd Craig McCauley (Rector of the Virginia Group of Parishes) was to become the new Archdeacon of Kilmore.

The New Archdeacon
Craig is married to Vida and they have two children Matthew and Laura.

Craig was made deacon in 1999 and ordained priest in 2000. He served as curate-assistant in Seapatrick Parish in the Diocese of Down and Dromore and in 2002 he moved back to his home Diocese of Dublin and Glendalough where he served as curate-assistant in Kill O’ the Grange parish.

In 2004 Craig moved to his present parish as Rector of the Virginia Group of Parishes in the Diocese of Kilmore. He has served Kilmore Diocese in various ways and on various committees including being DCO since 2008. He has served the wider church on General Synod and Standing Committee and is the Assistant-Editor (online) of the Church of Ireland Gazette.

As well as being a blogger (Rambling Rural Rector) Craig enjoys watching sport especially rugby and Liverpool FC, dabbling with computers and photography in his spare time.

On his appointment Craig commented that he was “humbled and honoured to serve the diocese as Archdeacon alongside Bishop Ken and as part of the team in Kilmore.”

The installation service will take place in St Feidhlimidh’s Cathedral, Kilmore on Sunday 22nd August at 4pm.
