New Parish Centre for Seagoe (Dromore) Opened

Opening of Seagoe Parish Centre

Architects and Contractors hand over the key to Seagoe's new Parish Centre to the Rector, Canon Terence Cadden

A striking and welcoming new Parish Centre was today (Saturday 26 June 2010) opened and dedicated at Seagoe Church (Dromore Diocese) in bright sunshine and to wide appreciation. The innovative and well designed centre links directly to the parish church and contains a suite of multi-functional rooms, a main hall and, in a bright and airy rotunda, a meeting area and circular prayer/quiet room.

The Rector of Seagoe, Canon Terence Cadden, welcomed a large gathering of parishioners, VIPs, ecumenical guests, invited guests, clergy and the architects (Knox & Markwell) and contractors (main contractor Glasgiven Contracts Ltd) to a special official opening and dedication service which involved a range of participants from the church and wider community, from young to old.

The Centre was opened by former Rector of Seagoe, the Most Revd David Chillingworth, now Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church and Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane, and was dedicated by the Bishop of Down & Dromore, the Right Revd Harold Miller.

Thanks were offered to everyone who had made the building of the centre a reality after many years of hard work and planning, enabling the parish to carry out its vision of being 'a welcoming Christian family, growing in our knowledge and love of God, encouraging one another in serving the wider community'. The service was followed by a reception.

The weekend of celebration for the opening of the centre includes an Open Afternoon on Sunday 27 June from 2-5pm for everyone to see the facility, with live music and refreshments, followed by a Resonate Praise Service at 7pm with music by the Mark Ferguson Band and the Right Revd Ken Clarke, Bishop of Kimore, as preacher.
