Twitter Interview With The New Archdeacon of Kilmore

As reported recently (http://www.ireland.anglican.org/index.php?do=news&newsid=3085) the Revd Craig McCauley, Rector of the Virginia Group of Parishes and Kilmore, Elphin & Ardagh Diocesan Communications Officer, was appointed Archdeacon of Kilmore earlier this month. Keeping it current, he gave a Twitter interview to Church of Ireland Press Officer, Paul Harron, in order to give a quick set of insights into his ministry and his new role. As per Twitter rules, he only got 140 character tweets per answer...
Tell me something about you.
I’m married to Vida and have two children Laura and Matthew. Love sport and photography. Write a blog called the Rambling Rural Rector!
Why did you become ordained?
I had a strong sense of God’s call to ordination in the Church of Ireland when I was 18. Strange as I was a Presbyterian at the time! No regrets
What is Church for you?
A community of God’s people who seek to love, serve and grow in faith in Him as well as a place where reflecting God’s grace all are welcome
What does the Christian faith mean for you?
Hope. A hope of a forgiven yesterday, a hope of God’s presence today and a hope for a new tomorrow free from sin, pain and suffering
What’s the role of an Archdeacon?
Traditionally the Bishop's right hand man. I see the role as sharing in Diocesan responsibilities as part of the Kilmore Clerical team
Are you also the bishop's 'eyes and ears'?!
I suppose so! Beware I’m watching...
Will your family still get to see you?
I hope so! I always try to keep a balance on things and if I don’t they let me know
What are your priorities in ministry?
Promoting a real, relevant living faith in Jesus and building up God’s people and encouraging each to serve God according to their gifts
Any challenges in the diocese?
Uniting, envisioning, empowering and ministering to relatively small numbers spread over 7 counties is challenging. We are moving FORWARD!
