St Werburgh’s is one of the best documented of the Dublin city churches. The parish records, which are in the RCB Library, include unique medieval churchwardens’ accounts, which were published last year by Canon Adrian Empey, registers and vestry books from the early eighteenth century and a rich assortment of papers, dating from the early seventeenth century, which detail many aspects of the development of the building.

St Werburg’s is also included in another valuable heritage development, the Dublin Graveyards Directory, which has recently appeared as an on-line publication. An initiative of Dublin City Archives, the Directory, which has been developed by genealogist, John Grenham, contains details (locations, contacts and information on records) of graveyards throughout the Dublin area. It can be viewed, free of charge, at www.dublinheritage.ie/graveyards
