Curate to serve Queen's Convocation

Rev. Stanley Gamble
Rev. Stanley Gamble

Rev. Stanley Gamble has been elected to the Standing Committee of the Convocation of Queen’s University Belfast at its annual meeting. The Convocation is the entire Queen’s University graduate body and certain categories of staff and members of Senate, whose authority is delegated to the Standing Committee.

The Knockbreda Curate was elected at the Annual Meeting of the Convocation, which saw critically acclaimed author and historian, Professor Keith Jeffrey address the Convocation on the subject of his bestselling book, ‘Real spies and real secrets: writing the history of MI6’.

Rev. Gamble said, “The Convocation provides graduates with the opportunity of participating in the life of the University, long after graduation. It organises a number of social and academic events throughout the year, and generously provides an annual scholarship of £5,000 for post-graduate research. The Standing Committee has just had its first meeting of the new year, and I am excited by the prospect of serving on it for the good of the university.”

Rev. Gamble read Modern History and Theology at Queen’s, before completing a Master of Theology degree. He is currently a part-time PhD Research Student at the University, examining the role of Scripture, tradition, reason and experience within the official conversations of the Church of Ireland and Methodist Church in Ireland.
