Pentecost Sunday celebrations in Coleraine (Connor)

As part of the Parish of Coleraine’s Pentecost celebrations on Sunday June 12, a new organ and side chapel will be dedicated by the Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy.

This will form part of an afternoon of celebrations in music and worship.

Celebrations will commence with the Festal Choral Evensong at 3pm, led by both the Counterpoint and Church choirs. Counterpoint choir, conducted by Reggie Patterson, was formed in 1978. Reggie, is one of the best known and talented musicians in Northern Ireland. Under his direction 'Counterpoint' has come to be regarded as a choir of the highest calibre, performing its concerts to packed audiences over the years.

Alongside Counterpoint, St Patrick’s own church choir has consistently led its congregations in worship over the years within this historic building. The combined strength and giftings of these two choirs will create a wonderful sound during this Evensong Service.

Refreshments will be served at 4pm and at 5pm Professor Ian Tracey will perform the Inaugural Organ Recital of the newly commissioned 3-Manual 50 stop Makin Westmorland Custom Organ.

Ian was appointed Organist of Liverpool Cathedral in 1980, and after 27 years was given the post of 'Organist Titulaire', which allows him freedom to devote more time to playing, lecturing, recording, and writing. Ian has played at most of the major venues in the UK and an increasing number around the world. Ian is also the Chorusmaster to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society and Organist to Liverpool John Moores University, where he holds his Professorial Chair.

All are welcome to attend the Pentecost Sunday celebrations in Coleraine.
