Members of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem will attend Evensong at Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral, Cork, at the invitation of the Bishop, the Right Reverend Paul Colton, on Saturday next 25th June at 6 p.m. The occasion is the visit to Cork by members of the Order for the meeting of their Chapter General, led by and presided over by the Grand Prior of Ireland, Chevalier Bernard Barton, GCLJ.

Bishop Colton, who is a Chaplain and Ecclesiastical Commander of the Order, will give members a guided tour of the Cathedral, one of Cork’s premier and historic landmarks, and Evensong, sung by the Cathedral Choir, will follow at 6 p.m.

Afterwards, Bishop Paul Colton and Mrs Susan Colton are hosting a garden party and dinner at the Bishop’s Palace to mark the occasion.

Members of the Order will attend local churches, including St Fin Barre’s, on Sunday morning 26th following which the Annual General Meeting will be held.

The Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem is a Christian and Ecumenical Order of Chivalry which traces its origins to the Fourth Century. The Order is present in many other countries and each year realises its ecumenical and chivalric aims by supporting ecumenical activities and by raising considerable funds for charities in Ireland and all over the world.
