Thanksgiving Service to mark end of Methodist and Church of Ireland Sunday Worship at Leeson Park

A thanksgiving service will be held in Leeson Park Church of Ireland Church on Thursday 5 May at 8pm to mark the ending of Church of Ireland worship on Sundays in the Church. The address at the service will be given by the Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Revd Dr John Neill who was Rector at the parish from 1978 to 1984.

With the agreement of the Archbishop, the Select Vestry has invited the Romanian Orthodox Community to offer their Divine Liturgy in the Church from June. The Church will continue to offer Church of Ireland worship on weekdays.

The Revd Michael Thompson, Rector at Leeson Park said ?of course this service will be poignant for many people. We?ve brought together a choir comprised of many former choristers and many former parishioners will be there. It is good to know however that the Church will continue to be used to offer praise and thanks to God and we very much hope that formal arrangements will be made with the Romanian Orthodox community so that Christ Church will be for them a long term home.?

The Methodist Centenary congregation which for many years shared Leeson Park Church with the Church of Ireland will be moving their Sunday services to Wesley House.
