The Rector of Carrickmacross, the Revd Robert Kingston, led the service and the organist was Mr Glenn Moore. The opening hymn was

Father, of heaven, whose love profound. During the Admission of Parochial Readers, the Warden of Readers, the Revd Canon David Skuce, presented the candidates to the bishop.

Following the hymn God has spoken by his prophets, the first reading from Isaiah chapter 6 was read by Mrs Jennifer Leathem, one of the newly admitted parochial readers who is also Honorary Secretary of St. Colman’s Parish Church, Clontibret. The second reading from St. Mark chapter 10 was read by Mrs Caroline Merrin, another of the newly admitted parochial readers who is also Honorary Treasurer of St. Finbarr’s Parish Church, Carrickmacross. The readings were followed by the hymn How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him and the sermon which was preached by the Bishop.

Following the sermon all joined in the singing of the hymn I, the Lord of sea and sky. The offertory hymn was Ye servants of God, your master proclaim. Prayers were led by three of the newly admitted parochial readers, Mr Alan Hill, Mrs Florence Collins and Mrs Doreen Monahan. The final hymn was Forth in the peace of Christ we go. After the service everyone joined for refreshments in the Parish Room and Church grounds, taking advantage of one of this year’s few pleasant summer evenings.
