Archbishop Desmond Tutu to preach at Discovery service

The former Archbishop of Cape Town and Nobel Laureate, the Most Revd Desmond Tutu will preach at the ?Discovery Service? in St Georges and St Thomas? Church, Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin on Monday 6 June 2005 at 12:30pm. The service will be led by the Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Revd Dr John Neill.

The Discovery Service takes place every month with the objective of providing ?Anglican Worship with an African Flavour? for Dublin?s African population. It attracts a large multi-racial congregation. The singing is led by the Discovery Gospel Choir, a mixed race, all-age and multi-cultural choir which specializes in African music. Both the Choir and the Service are part of the Church of Ireland diocese of Dublin?s Discovery Project which seeks to build and maintain links with the African population in the City. After the Service Archbishop Tutu will cut a cake to mark the first anniversary of the start of the Discovery Project.

The Revd Katharine Poulton, Rector of St Georges and St Tomas said ?we are delighted that Archbishop Tutu will be joining us to celebrate our first year in existence. His work to promote mutual understanding between people of all races and cultures is legendary and it?s wonderful that he will be here to support us in our continuing work.?
