Church of Ireland statement on the London bombings

Speaking on behalf of the Church of Ireland, Archbishop Robin Eames said: “It is with horror and disbelief that I and the Bishops and members of the Church of Ireland heard today of the indiscriminate but co–ordinated attack on innocent people using the public transport system in London. We express our support and solidarity for those affected and, indeed, for all people living in London at this time, but especially for the injured, traumatised and bereaved and for those providing emergency services.”

The Archbishop of Armagh has conveyed to the Bishop of London, the deepest sympathy of the Church of Ireland.

The Archbishop calls upon people to pray for all the victims of these atrocities and also for those engaged in rendering any form of assistance.

“We call on the people of our dioceses to offer prayers for victims at all Church services on Sunday.”
