Statement From The Archbishop Of Armagh, The Most Revd Dr Richard Clarke

The decision in recent days by Archdeacon Leslie Stevenson to decline consecration as a bishop has come as a shock to many people within the Church of Ireland and beyond. Amidst the public speculation many have felt hurt and great sadness. Everyone in this situation deserves the support and care of the people of God.

In praying for those most directly affected by this situation, not least the people of the Dioceses of Meath and Kildare on this day when the consecration of a new bishop was to take place, we ask that the God of mercy and healing may guide and bless us as we face into the future.
