Statement from the President of the Irish Council of Churches on the death of Brother Roger of Taize
The Irish Council of Churches
Statement by President, the Rt Revd Peter F Barrett, Bishop of Cashel & Ossory.

His Christ-centered reflections and writings, have pointed us always to the priority of reconciliation in the life of the Christian and in the mission of the churches. T hrough the meditative worship of the community he founded, especially its music which permeates so much of contemporary worship, our hearts have been led into silence where the Spirit is best heard.
Successive generations of young Irish pilgrims have had the pleasure of meeting him or listening to him either at Taize, or at the annual post Christmas Youth Gatherings, which are such an encouragement to those of us who seek the path of Christian togetherness, not least on this island.
We have been greatly blessed by his lovely and loving life and example and thank God for his faithfulness. May we be encouraged to ?go and do likewise? (Luke 10:37).
