Enniskerry Gospel Choir will celebrate its tenth anniversary with an informal service of word and music on Friday evening at 8.00pm in Powerscourt church followed by a reception in Powerscourt School Hall.  This service will also mark the official opening of the Enniskerry Gathering Weekend which will involve a wide variety of events and exhibitions over the following two days in Enniskerry village and immediate area.  Further information can be found on the Gathering website or www. Enniskerry.ie.

Church of Ireland House, Dublin, is usually closed for business on Ascension Day but as this year Ascension Day fell during the General Synod the closure has been deferred until Friday when the staff of the Representative Church Body will meet in Delgany for the annual golf outing. This team building exercise was brainchild George Butler who was Secretary of the RCB form 1935 until 1949. Since 1927 the RCB Staff have competed for the ‘AAREE Cup’ and since 1942 have also competed for the Leslie Butler Trophy, given in memory of George Butler’s son who was killed while serving with the RAF during World War II. The story of the golf outing and the Butler family involvement was told by Dr Susan Hood in the RCB Library’s ‘Archive of the Month’ last May which can be viewed at http://ireland.anglian.org/about/145
