Marathon Man
‘Ireland Run for Christ’ is an initiative which
will seek to expose many people on the island of Ireland to the Good News of
Jesus Christ and has been conceived by Alistair Donaldson, an ordinand in the
Church of Ireland Theological Institute who has just completed his first year
of full time training for ministry. The run will consist of 1298 miles at
approximately 26 miles each day from Crossmaglen, Co. Armagh, (Alastair’s hometown) around the perimeter of Ireland
and back again to Crossmaglen some 8 weeks and 3 days later. The run will begin
on 1 July and finish (hopefully) on 29 August. Spurred on by different people
accompanying the runners as well as many well–wishers in the different towns
and villages, it is hoped that this ambitious feat will be achieved
Alastair is an enthusiastic and hopeful, if somewhat ordinary, runner and he has taken part in six marathons in the last seven years. He hopes to be able to interest a number of friends and colleagues to accompany him on this venture with them running whole marathons or just a few miles. As part of the process, the Crosslinks missionary society, which is partnering the team on this venture hopes to be able to link up with a number of churches across the country and to this end the option of contributing financially to the work of Crosslinks is available.
Those who wish to support Alastair can obtain more information at www.run4christ.org or on FaceBook at www.facebook.com/IrelandRun4Christ.
