Literature Committee News
The Literature Committee continues to meet regularly and at its meeting held in Church House, Dublin on Thursday 12 September 2013, chaired by Dr Kenneth Milne, members discussed a number of projects currently under development. The following publications are now nearing completion and will be publicised further and subsequently made available for purchase in the coming weeks:
On 9th October 2013 the first three booklets in a new ‘Braemor Studies Series’ for the Church of Ireland Theological Institute and published by Church of Ireland Publishing will be launched at CITI. Each of these Studies began life as an MTh dissertation and are being published in order to broaden the reach of contemporary theological debate emanating from CITI. These first individual Studies are: ‘New Monasticism – a Catalyst for the Church of Ireland to Connect with Society?’ by Jonathan Campbell–Smyth; ‘The Place of Lament and the “Catharsis of the Complaint” in Response to the Problem of Evil’ by John M. Godfrey and ‘The New Masculinity Movement: A Viable Model for Engaging Men with God and the Church?’ by Alistair James Morrison.
The ‘Sunday and Weekday Readings’ booklet for 2014 – taking users through the Lectionary from Advent Sunday 2013 through to the eve of Advent Sunday 2014 – will be published by the end of September and available in October, from the Good Book Shop in Belfast and via Church of Ireland House, Dublin. Previously edited by the late Canon Brian Mayne, the publication is now compiled and edited by the Revd Ken Rue.
